Jesus is Comfort

"All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort." 2 Corinthians 1:3 Yesterday I drove my grandma a nursing home in Monroe to see her friend from church that had recently gone into the nursing home. It's a real joy to be in the presence of older people and hear them talk about the Lord. For so many years I was under the impression that all old people knew Jesus and were saved. But that is not the case, my eyes were opened to this truth when I was on a mission trip to Detroit, MI in 2008. We did a concert at a nursing home and several people accepted Jesus as their Savior that day. It blew my mind! Yesterday as my grandma and I were sitting in her friends room, her friend said "I love Jesus so much, but I just wish I could see so I could read my Bible. I can't see, I love God's Word." College and Jesus

One of the things about college is you have so many expectations to meet. Where your college books become like your Bible, and your papers become like the prayers you should be praying, and homework in general becomes like a religion. It's very hard to keep Jesus in the equation. You vow to get up early and read your Bible and pray, but you've stayed up till 3 or 4 in the morning and need sleep before it's time to leave for your classes. It's very easy to become consumed with it all. You don't have time to participate in church activities as much, or hang with your friends as much...your life becomes school work. I don't have a solution for this. I struggle just as much to stay hid in His Word and Satan knows it and attacks start coming right after another building up on the already stress that exists from school work, and nagging parents, and things you know you need to do....then we blow up. Sometimes at the wrong person. But I know the Word holds eve...
