A Time to Be Still

Image
"Be still and know that I am God." Last night I was overcome with great emotion, and under immense spiritual attack. I felt myself going to a very dark place, I couldn't move. I laid and cried, all I could get out was "Help Me!" over and over. I felt as if I needed to get up and read my Bible, or Sing, or Pray some long expressive prayer to God. Every time I tried to get up God said, No! I was doing exactly what He wanted me to do. Just being still. There was so much pain, there was so much emptiness... Before I had gone to bed I had re-read the Facebook status of a woman I dearly love, and look up to, she is going through A LOT right now, yet even so she teaches so much with her life, these are her words: "Is there a longing for more in your heart? Do you experience loneliness even in the middle of a crowd? Dissatisfaction may cause some to indulge in an extra slice of their favorite cheesecake, swallow that pill prescribed to "take the ed...

Fulfilled: Our Mission From God

Image
"Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me" (Psalm 40:7). "The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy" (Revelation 19:10). "...all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me" (Jesus Christ, Luke 24:44)." The other night I read the entire book of Matthew. Do you ever get that deep urging to pick up your Bible and read? That's what I was experiencing the other night. As I began to read it, I noticed one word "fulfill." Jesus had a mission in this earth, He was sent by His Father, God to carry out the mission planned before the foundation of the Earth was even laid. His mission was to redeem fallen man to the state before the fall (Romans 5). Not only did He fulfill this, he fulfilled details of His life that the prophets such as Isaiah and Jeremiah were given by God to write. Just as God had a mission for Jesus, He has a mission f...

The Renewing of the Nous: Part 2

Image
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your form...

Blessing Bag

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ -Matthew 25:40-45 Yesterday I met with my mentor. It's always a joy to be with her and discuss God's Word, and share the things God is leading us to do, and has taught us through the week. My mentor has be...

Bride of Jesus

Image
"Bride of Jesus, how beautiful you are when you no longer have anything of your own, but seek only His beauty. You will then be the delight of your Bridegroom, and He will be all your beauty! He will love you without measure. He will put His own life in you." -Fenelon I believe the book of Hosea is the most beautiful book ever, it's more beautiful in my eyes compared to Song of Solomon. In this book we see such a vivid picture of the grace and love of God. Because you see, we are all Gomer, that of a prostitute. We have cheated on God, we trade His love for other things in this life. We waver and fall away at times, never staying fully committed. However, because He loves us so much, He saves us, He disciplines us, convicting our our hearts once more, and it says in Hosea 2:14-19: “But then I will win her back once again. I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her there. 15 I will return her vineyards to her and transform the Val...

The Sin of Humanizing God

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." -Psalm 91:1 Today my pastor brought a great message on the awesomeness of God. One of his first points was that we no longer hold God in awe. Rather, we have humanized Him. Many would think it flippant, and try to justify and think that these thought are way to critical and Jesus was human...etc. But the truth is that humanizing God is a sin. In the book The Knowledge of the Holy, Dr. A. W. Tozer makes a profound statement: "The gravest question facing the Church today is God Himself. It is my opinion that the Christian concept of God that is current in the middle years of the twentieth century is so decadent that it is utterly beneath the dignity of the Most High God, and it actually consists, for professed believers, in something amounting to a moral calamity." If that’s what Dr. Tozer thought in the middle of the twentieth century, how much worse is it a...
