I've Got the Power!

"When the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere. Suddenly, there was a sound from Heaven like a roaring of a mighty windstorm in the skies above them, and it filled the house where they {the disciples} were meeting. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.
Acts 1:8, 2:2,4

In the book of Acts, the word "Holy Spirit", and "Power" are the most used. Where the Holy Spirit is, there is power. We have the Power! When we accept Jesus as our Savior and seek His forgiveness we are given the gift of the Holy Spirit (2:38).
Much of the Christian life is giving of yourself and time to others.
Acts 2-
41-42That day about three thousand took him at his word, were baptized and were signed up. They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers.

43-45Everyone around was in awe—all those wonders and signs done through the apostles! And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common. They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person's need was met.

46-47They followed a daily discipline of worship in the Temple followed by meals at home, every meal a celebration, exuberant and joyful, as they praised God. People in general liked what they saw. Every day their number grew as God added those who were saved.

Acts 4-
31While they were praying, the place where they were meeting trembled and shook. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak God's Word with fearless confidence.

32-33The whole congregation of believers was united as one—one heart, one mind! They didn't even claim ownership of their own possessions. No one said, "That's mine; you can't have it." They shared everything. The apostles gave powerful witness to the resurrection of the Master Jesus, and grace was on all of them.

34-35And so it turned out that not a person among them was needy. Those who owned fields or houses sold them and brought the price of the sale to the apostles and made an offering of it. The apostles then distributed it according to each person's need.

Now please note unlike Obama's plan to distribute the wealth, this was all voluntary here, these folks saw each other as family and were moved by the Holy Spirit to give.
However, we still need to give to those who need to experience the love of God, whether they are our brother and sister in Christ or not, that's how you add to the Kingdom of God. That is our commission. The Holy Spirit empowers us to fulfill what Jesus commissioned us to do. When we as Christians stand up and be of one heart and one mind, nothing will be able to stop us. We could change the world. But a lot of the time, Christians forget who they are in Christ. Forgetting how powerful we really are. Most of us would rather sit in a pew and complain about the preaching and music, and will never get plugged in a ministry where God could use us to change someones life, and maybe even your life. The Church (note, not the building church) was never intended for Christians to look at the back of someones head all morning. Now, I'm not much of a socializer, but I'm trying to be. I've have somewhat forgotten how to be fun, I use to talk a lot, and really fun to be around, but the one thing that made me that way was taken from me, my band! Anyway, that's another story. What I was going to say, we need to be more sociable with each other, and facebook, texting, and e-mail doesn't count. We need face time with each other, and not just with our brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers, but with unbelievers. We need to get out in the world. I would even be as radical as to say, "Go to a BAR!" I'm serious. You can keep Jesus and be in a Bar. For heavens sake even Jesus knew how to party. They have coke, and water at bars, don't ask me how I know that. So go order a coke and be a light in a dark place. You'll meet lots of hurting people there who need to hear about Jesus who is better than the beer they are drinking to drown sorrows. I would advise you go with a friend though, not very smart to go to a bar by yourself, especially if your a woman. Just as the enemy is a wolf dressed in sheep's clothing against us, I think we need to be sheep in wolf's clothing. SURPRISE! The Holy Spirit will give us the boldness to tell others about him. Remember though, how you life your life is your biggest testimony. It wouldn't be a good testimony to walk into a bar, with a Jesus shirt on and order a beer, you are totally contradicting your purpose.
We must decrease, and Jesus must increase...the more Jesus, the more power...the more us, the less power. Go Change the World!

Michael Jackson is totally rocking in this video, I must however apologize for the crotch grabbing moves...I'm not a huge fan of M.J. nor do I grieve his death. But He changed the world of music, and kinda the world in general. Also, you can sing this song to yourself when you feel like you don't have "the power." HAHA!
