Sunday! Hallelujah!!!! He's Alive! - Easter Sunday

Image
In the resurrection scheme of things, this has to happen: everything perishable taken off the shelves and replaced by the imperishable, this mortal replaced by the immortal. Then the saying will come true: Death swallowed by triumphant Life! Who got the last word, oh, Death? Oh, Death, who's afraid of you now? It was sin that made death so frightening and law-code guilt that gave sin its leverage, its destructive power. But now in a single victorious stroke of Life, all three—sin, guilt, death—are gone, the gift of our Master, Jesus Christ. Thank God! With all this going for us, my dear, dear friends, stand your ground. And don't hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort. Well, it's that time of year again when we Celebrate the Resurrection of our Savior, Jesus! It's quite exciting when you can really appreciate the thought that Jesus came with a purpose as we Celebrated Christma

There is Joy in the Lord

Image
"Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again- rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon." -Philippians 4:4-5 You cannot seek God and not find joy! Profound. This is what Paul wanted us to learn in Philippians. Paul would know, he wrote Philippians in 61 A.D. from Rome while imprisoned there. The purpose of the book of Philippians is to thank the Philippians and to strengthen them by showing that true joy comes from Jesus even in ones darkest hour. We truly find joy in Jesus. Have you ever walked away from the Bible or church feeling miserable? Well, sometimes it can happen, I understand. But, in your quiet time whether you are reflecting or meditating on a passage of scripture or talking to God great joy is found, is it not? Why do you think this is? In my opinion, I think when we really live to our fullest potential as a Christian, casting our cares of Jesus, and really seeing Him as our Savior and S

Living Life

Image
I love Fridays for a couple of reasons. One, I don't have classes, Two, it's a perfect day to recharge myself and get things done. Today, however, I let it be a quiet thoughtful day. I heard a very inspiring lecture yesterday from the woman who write and travels. I took all her advise to heart and have been what I call, "REALLY living life" today. It is so easy to get caught up in our everyday routine schedules, and it's like we're not even living in the world observing and seeing what is there. One of the MANY things my English professor has taught me this semester is that it's important to sit outside in sunshine and breath. Apart of the regrouping, and focusing process requires us to get in the world and determine what is real and what is not...if that makes sense. What I tend to do...and this is really bad don't copy me, I set myself up for collapse by not eating, drinking water, sleeping, guilting and shaming myself, listening to voices, a

Reflecting

Image
As I was sitting in Halton Theatre not long ago waiting to learn about Shakespeare, I started to reflect on the good things the Lord has done for me in over the past year. Why it came at that time, I don't know...but in any case I reflected. What a good God we serve y'all! There are times we don't stop and think about all the things God gives us and really thank Him and be taken in his sovreignty. His favor follows us, faithful is our Father, he fulfills His every promise in our lives. He knows the desires of our hearts, and wants to give us what we desire. Suddenly, when we remember and list all that God has done it makes a bad day good. When we remember to Thank Him, and be filled with aweness of who He is in our lives, it's incredible. When is the last time you've reflected on your life, and the good God has brought?

It's in the Blood

"Oh, praise the one who paid my debt and raised this life up from the dead! Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe! For sin had left a crimson stain he washed it white as snow!" One night in a church service a young woman felt the tug of God at her heart. She responded to God's call and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. The young woman had a very rough past, involving alcohol, drugs, and prostitution. But, the change in her was evident. As time went on she became a faithful member of the church. She eventually became involved in the ministry, teaching young children. It was not very long until this faithful young woman had caught the eye and heart of the pastor's son. The relationship grew and they began to make wedding plans. This is when the problems began. You see, about one half of the church did not think that a woman with a past such as hers was suitable for a pastor's son. The church began to argue and fight about the matter. So they decided to have

Entertaining Angels

Image
"Watch that you don't treat a single one of these childlike believers arrogantly. You realize, don't you, that their personal angels are constantly in touch with my Father in heaven?" "Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!" -Matthew 18:10; Hebrews 13:2 The other day at work an angel visited me. She was beautiful, she looked like a woman you would see anywhere in public. She was wearing a white beachy looking dress, kinda flowing. She had a sweet face. She was telling me she was having a bad day, and I told her I'm a good listener. Then all of a sudden she acted like she had always known and and started asking me if I was okay, and if I'm doing okay with both working and going to school, which I mentioned nothing about school. She has the sweetest smile, and she encouraged me. When she left I felt such a peace, and a renewal. I didn't realize it till home

Forgiveness- Just Do It!

How many Bible studies do you need to take before you can get it through your head that you just might need to put some action to what you learn in those Bible Studies? I'm not bashing Bible Studies, and I'm not judging or bashing you. They are great, and you are great, but when you keep "learning" the same stuff then comes time to do it, you freak out and put yourself back on the prayer list. The majority of us know a lot, it's just the doing it part. One thing about Jesus in his ministry here on Earth he required people to take action if they wanted healing or a miracle. Take the story of Lazarus for example: Jesus told Mary and Martha to roll the stone away from the grave.... Not that kind of rolling stone, HAHA! Sorry, couldn't resist. Rock on my fellow rockers! \m/ >.< \m/ Grab your Bible and turn to John 11:39-44: Jesus was like, you want to see some action? You start, show me your faith. I love Jesus, he cracks me up at times reading the

Moses and Aaron

"When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset." -Exodus 17:12 Tonight my sister and I were talking about this story. Actually our original topic was spiritual warfare. For some reason this story came to mind. I said, you know in the times we are in spiritual warfare we have each other to hold one other up. Like Moses and Aaron. Check out Exodus 17: The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. 9 Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.” 10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’
