Sing a New Song!

Image
"I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God ; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord." -Psalm 40:1-3 Where do I start? The past few weeks and months have held great excitement for me. God has continued to do a great work in me, as I follow Him in obedience. Not only walking in obedience but continuing to read His Word, and learning who He is, and what He has done. I've been in a process of healing, and overcoming. I have found myself more than ever applying my life verse to my life...probably why it's called a life verse right? I've had to make peace with my past. I've been saved for 10 years but have not been living in that new nature God gave me, or claiming all the new things He had for me. Instead I continued in my selfish

"Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession. You will break them with an iron rod and smash them like clay pots." -Psalm 2:8-9 Up until now we have seen how nonbelievers more predominately declare war on God. But now we are moving into the part where God's people and His church declare war on Him. The book of Revelation is written to believers and churches who profess the Name of Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Jesus loves His church, and He wants to her functioning in the correct way that brings Him glory and honor. So He tells John to write to these 7 churches to both encourage and correct. Some of these churches were professing a faith that they did not practice; they were living contrary to the Bible. This is what an apostate looks like. The path of apostasy starts with this question: Does my identity look like Christ or culture? Your identity being, who you are, what you believe, and how you behave.

"Jesus said, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but through me.'" -John 14:6 In His ministry here on Earth, Jesus was a living example, He still is our living example. As we read the gospels especially and see His relationship to the Father, we see how our relationship to the Father should look like. That was Jesus' prayer for us. (John 17) Jesus doesn't have perspective, ideology, or His own interpretation. He see's the truth, knows the truth, and says the truth. It's the same for us as Christians. We can't do whatever we want, neither can we agree with whatever we want, if it doesn't line up with the Bible, don't do it! Following Christ means doing what God wants. God wants us to accept His son, Jesus, and stop doing what is wrong...whether we think it's wrong or not. Essentially, that's what God's love looks like. We're right back to repentance, which is agreeing with God that

"Jesus said, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." -John 14:6 If there is one truth America needs to learn, it is this: God is real, He is ruling and reigning King over all, High and exalted above everything there is, and He is not afraid to send to Hell those who do not believe in Him. Ouch! Not exactly the walking around in a dress, hugging people, throwing out Zen-like fortune cookie statements Jesus. You know, riding a unicorn. He’s just not, that’s not Jesus! He is resurrected from death, ruling and reigning, living in heaven, judging the living, and the dead, BIG Jesus. Our view of God is short sighted, and uneducated. Some of our practices are to keep Him in a little box as a god who makes a feel good when we need him to, who possess all the right characteristics we need for him to fit like love, and tolerance, grace, and mercy. Here's the problem with that, we are picking one attribute of Jesus that

Time is Ticking Away!

"For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. If you wait for perfect conditions you will never get anything done! Here is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey His commands, for this is the duty of every person. God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad." -Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11:4, 12:13-14 As many of you know I am going into full time ministry. I started the application, and paperwork process of applying to Southeastern Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. They do want to know A LOT about you, and that's good, I want them to know about me too. I was convicted in a sense of when I was asked how much time a week I spend doing certain things. When I mapped it all out, I was came to realize I wasn't doing so hot in some areas, and other areas I was like does all day count? This is falling into the doctrine of Stewardship. Am I being a good steward of the time God is

Accomplishing God's Goals

Jesus, friend of sinners, open our eyes to the world at the end of our pointing fingers. Let our hearts be led by mercy, help us reach with open hearts and open doors. Oh Jesus, friend of sinners, break our hearts for what breaks yours. MISSION PHILADELPHIA 2012, STUDENT WORSHIP! Good Morning North Carolinian's in the name of Jesus! I write this letter to tell you of my missionary journey to Philly...Ok, so maybe I can't be a Paul. We left Monday morning July 23rd. There were 50 of us. We chartered a bus. It was our first trip without Phil Chaney. This was his vision, and heart for our Students. He loved us all as his own, Koral told us one night during our devotion time that Phil told her as he was dying to take care of his kids, and he wasn't referring to Chaney kids, but the kids of Student Worship. He truly trained us up in the teachings of the Lord. He took much pride in the kids. Every year when we go on these trips we don't stay in nice accommo
