We Are Victorious: Part 2



"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people."
Ephesians 6:18

As we established, we as Christians are engaged in a spiritual battle. We are a clean shot for Satan's attacks. Considering that, lets check out the remaining 3 pieces of armor God has given us to resist Satan and his attacks.

Belt of Truth
"To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32

Satan fights with lies, and sometimes his lies can sound like truth. As believers we have God's truth, which can defeat Satan's lies.


Breastplate of Righteousness
"...and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith." Philippians 3:9

Our hearts are often attacked by Satan. Our hearts are the seat of our emotions, self-worth, and trust. God's righteousness is the breastplate that protects our heart. It's God's seal of approval on us because we have trusted Christ to save us and cleanse our hearts from sin.


The Shoes of the Good News
"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”" Isaiah 52:7

Satan wants us to believe that spreading the good news to others is worthless and hopeless. It's a task to Big, and the negative responses we might get are too much for us to handle or get over. But the "shoes" God gives us are the true peace that is available in God, and prepares us to share THE GOOD NEWS with others.

I pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for Him, as I should.

Hupomone -- A Patient Endurance

I can remember the first time I heard this Greek word, Hupomone (noun). (pronounced hoop-om-on-ay') It literally means remaining under the Divine Presence while being tested. I was sitting in the church my dad was pastoring at the time, a rural church in North Carolina. It's been well over 10 years ago. I was sitting on a pew with my friend Sarah, kinda toward the front. I don't remember anything about the sermon that day, just the word Hupomone. Sarah and I looked at each other and giggled like girls do, and Sarah blurted out, "What's humopone?!" My dad, the gracious man he is, answered her interruption. For the next few months Sarah and I would run around randomly saying, "Hupomone!" several times in a row. It really is a fun word to say. That You May Believe

  We see the word, "believe" a lot in our culture.  We are encouraged by wooden frames, and art to "believe in ourselves."  In all actuality that is idolatry telling you to place your faith in yourself.  I don't know about you, but I have no idea how to direct my life other than to trouble.  Do we really want to lift ourselves higher than God?  That we are worthy within ourselves to reject God and trust ourselves instead?  I guess we have all walked that path at one time or another.  My existence outside of Jesus Christ and His Spirit in me amounts to nothing.  It begins and ends.  I live for myself, doing whatever I please, going wherever.  It may be attractive for a season, but in the end my life it isn't hinged on any meaning. In throwing the word, "believe" around so much it looses it's meaning almost like when we tell people we love them without thinking or feeling.  Believe is a key word to the Bible, especially the book of John.  Belief
