We Are Victorious



"But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
2 Corinthians 15:57

VICTORY:
a success or triumph over an enemy in battle or war.
an engagement ending in such triumph.
the ultimate and decisive superiority in any battle or contest.
a success or superior position achieved against any opponent, opposition, difficulty, etc.

God's Armor For Us:
We are engaged in a Spiritual battle, but God has given us some tools. We need to learn how to use them.

Helmet of Salvation
The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1

Satan wants to make us doubt God, Jesus, and our Salvation. The helmet protects our mind from doubting God's saving power.
Our minds are a battlefield. We have to protect our minds, keeping them full of God's truth about us. I would suggest reading a book by Joyce Meyer called, "Battlefield of the Mind" I've read it and learned a lot.

The Sword of The Spirit
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12

This is the only weapon of offense. When we are tempted we need to truth in the truth of God's Word. Take for example when Jesus was tempted by Satan. Jesus came back at Satan's temptations with scripture. When Satan whispers a lie about us, we need to shout back the truth from scripture.

The Shield of Faith
who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
1 Peter 1:5

The shield of faith protects us from Satan's fiery darts in the form of insults, setbacks, and temptations. When we have God's perspective, we can see beyond our circumstances and know the ultimate Victory is ours!!

Also, up and coming, I am going to try to do an Ephesians study on here. I love the book of Ephesians and want to dig deeper into it to uncover many of it's themes such as: God's purpose for a living church, Christian conduct, and Empowerment of the Holy Spirit and many other things.

Gracious and loving Father, help me get my perspectives clear. Train me in the art of spiritual warfare so that I will be able to resist every onslaught of the Devil and come through every conflict victoriously. In your name. Amen.

Hupomone -- A Patient Endurance

I can remember the first time I heard this Greek word, Hupomone (noun). (pronounced hoop-om-on-ay') It literally means remaining under the Divine Presence while being tested. I was sitting in the church my dad was pastoring at the time, a rural church in North Carolina. It's been well over 10 years ago. I was sitting on a pew with my friend Sarah, kinda toward the front. I don't remember anything about the sermon that day, just the word Hupomone. Sarah and I looked at each other and giggled like girls do, and Sarah blurted out, "What's humopone?!" My dad, the gracious man he is, answered her interruption. For the next few months Sarah and I would run around randomly saying, "Hupomone!" several times in a row. It really is a fun word to say. That You May Believe

  We see the word, "believe" a lot in our culture.  We are encouraged by wooden frames, and art to "believe in ourselves."  In all actuality that is idolatry telling you to place your faith in yourself.  I don't know about you, but I have no idea how to direct my life other than to trouble.  Do we really want to lift ourselves higher than God?  That we are worthy within ourselves to reject God and trust ourselves instead?  I guess we have all walked that path at one time or another.  My existence outside of Jesus Christ and His Spirit in me amounts to nothing.  It begins and ends.  I live for myself, doing whatever I please, going wherever.  It may be attractive for a season, but in the end my life it isn't hinged on any meaning. In throwing the word, "believe" around so much it looses it's meaning almost like when we tell people we love them without thinking or feeling.  Believe is a key word to the Bible, especially the book of John.  Belief
