A Thrill of Hope -- Advent

"...Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new glorious morn! Fall on your knees..."

Do you need some hope breathed into your night? I know I do. This world we spin on, it can make us dizzy. We turn one way, then another; help this person, punch the clock. News stories flash across our screens that leave us breathless at times. Shootings, kidnappings, misbehavior, fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding. It leaves us so weary. Our hearts and mouths shout out to God. Help us! Where are you?! The weight of this world is too much.

Over 2,000 years ago, there was a sigh of relief as Jesus let out His first cry. The world weary looking for Messiah to offer peace and hope. The thrill of a newborn baby...the hope of new life. The pure and innocent boy who captured the hearts of all who laid eyes on his fragile body. Angels lit up the night sky along with the star that guided the way to Him. And all who gathered around Him, Worshiped.

Again we look for His 2nd Advent. Our soul feels the weight of our sin. A thrill to see Him hailing in the East, light up the sky. His cry, "Come up here!"

On this first week of Advent lets remember He is with us, and He is breathing hope into every situation we face. We are the face of hope to the world as His followers, we carry the torch that lights the path to our Savior. We worship and adore our Lord humbly as a baby in a manager, as a servant in His ministry, and as King who will reign forever and ever. A declaration that thrills the heart into hope, The Lord shall reign forever, and ever! The Lord our mighty warrior. We have hope and stand in Victory.

We celebrate your coming to be with us, Lord.
