It's Not Fair!

I saw this in the sky on the way back to Charlotte from Tennessee. God was telling me He loved me. :)

"For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God."

Many people ask the question, "How can a Sovereign God allow anyone to go to Hell, especially those who have never heard of Jesus?" Our culture today proclaims that it isn't fair, suggesting there should be more than one way to God such as through good works. However, there is only one way to God, and that way is through Jesus. If anything is unfair it's the fact that we who are Christians and believers and contain the truth, but don't share it with those around us! That's what is unfair! Some people who know the truth reject it, and don't want God to mess their life up. Well, they are right about that, God will mess up your life...but He messes it up in a good way, a way that is better than you've ever lived before.
It isn't fair that we in America have access to our Bible 24/7, the privilege to gather together in our million dollar churches, when our sister churches in places such as Asia and places where the name of God is a crime to say and they are facing persecution.
General Revelation teaches that God reveals himself in nature and man. That His characteristics are painted in the sky and throughout creation. God does reveal himself in what we see and touch everyday. Based on the verses found in Psalm 19:1-6, and Acts 14:15-17 stating that God's craftsmanship and character is revealed in what he created. He leaves us evidence and reminders of himself such as rain, good crops, food, and joyful hearts. Man instinctively follows what the law says, in mans heart they know right from wrong. Mans conscience or thoughts either accuse or tell them if what they are doing is right or wrong (Romans 1:19-20). From the things God has made we know He is majestic, and powerful, He is mindful of his creation because He thinks of us and has given us authority over His creation. His craftsmanship is creative and full of variety revealing his goodness, and wisdom. God satisfies every need, showing his love to us. His character is love. So, the result of General Revelation is though we are sinners we have no excuse for not knowing who God is. The beauty and uniqueness of God's creation should stimulate one to search for the one who created it, then inevitably come to know Him personally.
In Helen Keller's Biography Anne Sullivan the lady who taught Helen, told her about God signing on her hand about him since Helen could neither hear or see. Helen became excited when Anne told her about God, and quickly began to sign back, "Is that His name? I knew of Him, but didn't know what to call him."
One of my favorite books of the Bible is Job. Job is my hero. Chapter 37-38 speaks so much to me. In chapter 38 The Lord speaks to Job, here is what he says:

1 Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind:
2 “Who is this that questions my wisdom
with such ignorant words?
3 Brace yourself like a man,
because I have some questions for you,
and you must answer them.

4 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell me, if you know so much.
5 Who determined its dimensions
and stretched out the surveying line?
6 What supports its foundations,
and who laid its cornerstone
7 as the morning stars sang together
and all the angels[a] shouted for joy?

8 “Who kept the sea inside its boundaries
as it burst from the womb,
9 and as I clothed it with clouds
and wrapped it in thick darkness?
10 For I locked it behind barred gates,
limiting its shores.
11 I said, ‘This far and no farther will you come.
Here your proud waves must stop!’

12 “Have you ever commanded the morning to appear
and caused the dawn to rise in the east?
13 Have you made daylight spread to the ends of the earth,
to bring an end to the night’s wickedness?
14 As the light approaches,
the earth takes shape like clay pressed beneath a seal;
it is robed in brilliant colors.[b]
15 The light disturbs the wicked
and stops the arm that is raised in violence.

16 “Have you explored the springs from which the seas come?
Have you explored their depths?
17 Do you know where the gates of death are located?
Have you seen the gates of utter gloom?
18 Do you realize the extent of the earth?
Tell me about it if you know!

19 “Where does light come from,
and where does darkness go?
20 Can you take each to its home?
Do you know how to get there?
21 But of course you know all this!
For you were born before it was all created,
and you are so very experienced!

22 “Have you visited the storehouses of the snow
or seen the storehouses of hail?
23 (I have reserved them as weapons for the time of trouble,
for the day of battle and war.)
24 Where is the path to the source of light?
Where is the home of the east wind?

25 “Who created a channel for the torrents of rain?
Who laid out the path for the lightning?
26 Who makes the rain fall on barren land,
in a desert where no one lives?
27 Who sends rain to satisfy the parched ground
and make the tender grass spring up?

28 “Does the rain have a father?
Who gives birth to the dew?
29 Who is the mother of the ice?
Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens?
30 For the water turns to ice as hard as rock,
and the surface of the water freezes.

31 “Can you direct the movement of the stars—
binding the cluster of the Pleiades
or loosening the cords of Orion?
32 Can you direct the sequence of the seasons
or guide the Bear with her cubs across the heavens?
33 Do you know the laws of the universe?
Can you use them to regulate the earth?

34 “Can you shout to the clouds
and make it rain?
35 Can you make lightning appear
and cause it to strike as you direct?
36 Who gives intuition to the heart
and instinct to the mind?
37 Who is wise enough to count all the clouds?
Who can tilt the water jars of heaven
38 when the parched ground is dry
and the soil has hardened into clods?

39 “Can you stalk prey for a lioness
and satisfy the young lions’ appetites
40 as they lie in their dens
or crouch in the thicket?
41 Who provides food for the ravens
when their young cry out to God
and wander about in hunger?

Wow! How can you answer that!? God spoke back to Job from a whirlwind, and he did not answer any of Jobs questions from the previous chapter. They were not the heart of the problem. Instead, God used Jobs ignorance of the earths natural order to reveal his ignorance of God's moral order. If Job did not understand the workings of God's physical creation, how could he possibly understand God's mind and character? There is no standard or criterion higher than God himself by which to judge. God himself is the standard. Our only option is to submit to his authority and care.

Go tell someone about Jesus. Live like you know Him. Change the world, lead it back to God.
