Sing a New Song!

Image
"I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God ; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord." -Psalm 40:1-3 Where do I start? The past few weeks and months have held great excitement for me. God has continued to do a great work in me, as I follow Him in obedience. Not only walking in obedience but continuing to read His Word, and learning who He is, and what He has done. I've been in a process of healing, and overcoming. I have found myself more than ever applying my life verse to my life...probably why it's called a life verse right? I've had to make peace with my past. I've been saved for 10 years but have not been living in that new nature God gave me, or claiming all the new things He had for me. Instead I continued in my selfish ...

None But Jesus

Today I was in the grocery store with my mom and the song by The Rolling Stones, "You Can't Always Get What You Want" came on the radio. Prior to walking into the store this lady took my parking place and gave me the finger. I was not happy, it was hard for me to scream Jesus loves you at that moment. My Aunt is always encouraging me to find my inner peace with Jesus. Anyway. Today's generation carries around the philosophy that they can get anything and everything they want. Whether by help of government, stealing...whatever. But as I listened to this song I was reminded of the doctrine of Idolatry. You see many times we pray and ask and want for our idols, things that we Worship more than we Worship God. We get frustrated with God when He doesn't give this particular thing to us; He says NO. God answered your prayer in saying no, it isn't unanswered. He is saying no because He knows it is our idol, even when we don't know it yet or realize it....

Die Daily

Fenelon wrote in one of his letters that, many think "dying to themselves" is what causes them so much pain. However, in actuality, because part of you still lives is what causes the problem. Let all that is not born of God with you die. Learn to accept your weaknesses, and see who you are so that God can heal you. If we die a little bit everyday of our life, how completely will these daily deaths destroy the power of your final dying. Essentially, when we die to ourselves daily, daily God will fill us with His peace, because God is peace-even the heaviest cross must be carried in peace. Do not resist dying to yourself. Volunteer for your own death, God heads straight for that which we are most reluctant to give up. He seeks to destroy your old nature, and it does hurt, but remember that pain is only felt where there is life. He takes away so that He might be your supply. He owns it all. A few thoughts I've been having over the last few days has been based ...

Inspired by a phrase I heard in a sermon that "Do Not Fear" is written in the Bible 365 times, on for every day got me thinking how can I convey people that we are not to fear? One of my gifts is encouragement. It says in Romans 12:8 "If your gift is encouragement, then do it!" So I set out on a mission to find where all Jesus says "Do Not Fear" and where God says "Do Not Fear." It was just as encouraging to me to do this project. It was at a time in my life when I needed those words spoken into my life. We all need these w...
