Do We Really Believe?

"And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil." -1 Peter 3:13-17 There's a lot that we fight for as Christians. In that fight we get heated when people don't agree or adhere to what we are saying is truth. What has rudely shaken lately is the question of life. Why do I believe in life? I was asked in an interview recently with a Samaritans Purse recruiter, "What is your stance on the sanctity of life?" I've encounte...

The Feast of Trumpets

Image
"Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For the day of the Lord is coming, For it is at hand... The great day of the Lord is near; It is near and hastens quickly. The noise of the day of the Lord is bitter; There the mighty men shall cry out. 15 That day is a day of wrath, A day of trouble and distress, A day of devastation and desolation, A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness, 16 A day of trumpet and alarm Against the fortified cities And against the high towers." Today at sundown the Feast of Trumpets commenced, and what a beautiful day for this to have happened on The Lords Day! Though this is a Jewish Holiday and their Sabbath is on Saturday, the idea of this Feast to be on the Lords day for those of us who are Born Again Believers, it is special. More so today in my church we observed the Lord's Supper, a remembrance of His covenant with His B...

The God who Seeks: A Scandal of Grace

Image
God is the initiator of everything in our lives. We are people chosen by God Himself as a result of Him seeking us out. Before the foundations of the Earth were laid and formed God saw you, and loved you and had it in His heart for you to be His. In someway everyday He is in pursuit of you, His eyes on you hoping you will choose Him and in turn seek Him. He says through David in Psalm 23, "surely my goodness and steadfast love will pursue after you relentlessly all the days of your life." Until our last day He will hound our steps with love. No one ever dies unloved. He is seeking to save, and in that saving that people will become true worshipers. He pursues us through His Spirit, and through His Son. The Trinity is a mystery. I believe it was St. Augustine that said, If you try to communicate and explain the Trinity you loose your mind. I get scared writing about it because I don't want to accidentally sound like a heretic and totally shred theology to piec...

The God who Seeks, Searches and Saves: Introduction

Image
We live what we seek after, which then becomes our purpose in life, resulting in the legacy we leave for generations to come. In many of our cities across America, and across the world there is an encounter of spiritual darkness as a result of generations not seeking God. Generations who can't even start to seek Him because of the strongholds, self exalting arguments, and deep rebellions against each other and God. In this new series about God seeking, searching, and saving us, it is my goal to walk you through both God's role and our response. Those of you who have read my blog for some time know I end every post with "God bless you as you seek Him." I want you to seek Him, to look for Him in everything, and as a result be blessed but what your eyes see, and what God reveals to your spirit as it aligns with His Spirit and listen to what He is saying. God wants our obedience to be fulfilled first so that we form a lifestyle of correct responses and begin livi...

It Is Well With my Soul

Image
"Even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong." -2 Corinthians 12:7-10 So, did you check out the "About" page? Hopefully you did in that you can have a better idea of what this ministry is about, and where I'm coming from as the writer of the words you read. In the next few posts I want to expound on the vision and mission of the ministry and share with you personally what God has done in my life to get to thi...

A Grain Offering

Image
“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.” “For I will give the command and will shake Israel along with the other nations as grain is shaken in a sieve, yet not one true kernel will be lost. I will protect them by the power of the name you gave me. I guard them so that not one was lost, - Luke 22:31-32 ; 1 Peter 5:8 ; Amos 9:9 ; John 17:12 I don't know about you but lately I've been through extreme testing. I find myself wondering when it will stop and I can just breathe and enjoy life. The wind gets knocked out of me, and I get hit on all sides. Situations break my heart, family and friends walk away, jobs frustrate, traffic makes my head pound, money is tight...it can all...

Sacred Ground

I'm really blessed to work where I do. God was so gracious to place me where He did. It was about this time last year I was on the phone with the boss telling her about myself and asking for a job. She had never met me, and within just a few conversations across country she scheduled me for an interview! Crazy huh? The next week I would find myself on a plane flying back to this land I love, Portland, OR meeting with this lady not knowing what the future would hold for me, not even knowing if she would hire me! Well, she hired me. I could have never known how much this job would grow me spiritually, grow me as a worker, and leader. I could have never guessed how much my relationship with people would benefit from relationships God gave me at this job. It's become more than a job. The owners have become a very special and foundational part of my life here. God gave them to me, and it's so cool because they love Jesus. Just today at work I had a meaningful conver...
